About Lockwood Tattoo
Hi, I’m Ryan Lockwood, the owner and sole tattoo artist at Lockwood Tattoo in Austin, TX. I have over 13 years of experience working full-time as a professional Tattoo Artist. But my art background goes back much further.
I discovered my passion for art back in high school and began taking classes to hone my skills. After graduating I attended Columbia College Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Oil painting was my forte back then. But by the time I graduated, I knew that I wanted to pursue tattooing.
As much as I loved drawing, painting, and sculpting there was a longing for something more exciting and socially interactive. Well, this is it for me. I love tattooing, it’s my passion. I can’t think of a more fascinating medium to work in. But working and interacting with my clients is honestly the most enjoyable part of my job.
My approach is somewhat unique in this industry. Customer service and client satisfaction are extremely important to me. I make every effort to play to your wishes. I really enjoy collaborating with my clients and helping them develop their concepts. I’m also comfortable taking the reins through the design process and appreciate being given creative control. But it’s more important to me that my clients get exactly what they want, even if that means doing something that goes against my recommendation. My job is to bring your vision to life.
Between Chicago and Austin, I worked or did guest spots at nine different shops before opening my private studio in 2019. This space has proven to be an ideal setting for both me and my clients. It allows me to offer everyone a much more exclusive experience. For most people, it’s a much more inviting atmosphere than a traditional shop.
They’re more comfortable discussing their project and getting tattooed without the pressure of prying eyes. And you get to enjoy the amenities without compromising. You can listen to your favorite music or watch whatever you want on the big-screen TV. There’s also plenty of room for your guests if you’d like to bring somebody with you to share your experience.
